He simultaneously served as the firm’s Chief Strategy Officer for almost a decade, during a period of considerable transformation as the firm initiated its evolution in becoming a broader leadership advisory firm.
During his tenure, Ben has supported four CEOs and five Board Chairs in helping the firm achieve substantial growth. He was responsible for leading and managing marketing and communications programs worldwide, including brand strategy, practice-level programs, digital marketing, convening & sponsorships, service offering positioning, and internal communications – playing particularly critical roles in the areas of firm strategy, the development of intellectual capital for the firm’s leadership-related IP, all aspects of public relations, and executive communications.
Prior to joining Spencer Stuart, Ben was Managing Partner of the New York office of Prophet, a global consultancy focused on helping leaders integrate business, brand, and marketing strategies at leading multinational companies. At previous points in his career, Ben was Chief Marketing Officer of PWC (PricewaterhouseCoopers) Consulting and a Vice President, Marketing at what is now the investment banking arm of Credit Suisse.
Ben also spent 19 years within the Young & Rubicam family of companies (within the global communications group WPP), where he had substantial experience in advising leaders and shaping the marketing of leading business-to-business service brands. In addition to leading major relationships for Y&R clients – such as with AT&T and Accenture – he held senior roles at both established business units there (e.g., Burson Marsteller) and newer ones (e.g., he helped launch an M&A advisory business, working in collaboration with Blackstone).
Ben is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Brown University, and also received an M.B.A. from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
